"The increase in the percentage of older adults in the population, together with the Coronavirus pandemic, has deepened the phenomenon of ageism in the urban space and intensified inter-age tensions. The project seeks to survey the human spectrum, in all its aspects and ages, by finding solutions that would result in a spatial organic encounter. The heterogeneous encounter is the human microclimate that would produce a society in which human diversity nourishes quality of life for the elderly and for society at large. The Kerem HaTeimanim neighborhood and HaCarmel Market are examples of a space that represents the phenomenon of ""urban markets"" – an old and cheap neighborhood, the appearance of a younger population, area revival, price increases, tourist attractions and AIRBNB apartments which marginalize the former inhabitants. These can be used as a case study for creating an organic space that preserves the older population as part of the urban daily life. The project proposes the creation of public and residential spaces that provide a diverse and heterogeneous community life, a wide spectrum of lifestyles, levels of independence and choice, in which inter-age encounters enrich one another."
