Modern airports are complex structures that must manage a wide range of variables to facilitate air travel, while accommodating the growing number of passengers in global aviation, which is approaching 5 billion annually and increasing steadily by about 5% per year. Whereas air travel was once primarily perceived as an exciting experience, today airports and airplanes carry negative connotations for many, being seen as unsafe, noisy, and crowded. Studies indicate that 35–40% of the population experiences some level of flight anxietyת a figure high in light of statistical data showing that flying is safer than staying at home, driving, or traveling by train. With the decision to establish a supplementary airport in Israel, a unique opportunity arises to design a terminal that offers a calming user experience. The "Landing Field" project explores how an airport terminal can reduce flight anxiety while simultaneously serving as a vital, meaningful hub for the Jezreel Valley region, catering both to air travelers and the local community. Through this project, I aim to challenge conventional airport design and develop an innovative terminal proposal that serves as a calming, human-centered gateway integrated with its surrounding environment.
