This project examines the potential of adaptive reuse in the field of Architecture, at the same time as focusing on its role as an engine for urban renewal in neglected and isolated areas characterized by low economic status and social marginalization. Focusing on the 'Beit Merkarim' building in the Givat Herzl neighborhood in Tel Aviv as a case study- this project repurposing the mega-structure and aims to revitalize the urban fabric, integrate communities and produce a sustainable development. As part of the research for the project thesis, guiding design principles were developed for architectural planning to create a new Craft Academy, a vibrant activity center that, on the one hand, elevates the historical character of the neighborhood, and on the other hand, promotes economic growth, social cohesion and cultural renewal. Thus, this project highlights the potential of existing mega-structures in the field of design and the relevance of adaptive reuse as a response to the need for urban renewal in neglected areas.
