These days we are witnessing the process of "Stadium Renaissance" in Israel, with the renovation of some of the existing stadiums and by building some brand-new stadiums. However, the current planning trend is to move the stadiums away from city-center to the outskirts of the city because they have often been seen as a "Bad Neighbor". In addition, they contain no other functions rather than their use for match-day which make them inactive for most of the year. In this project, I would like to show the great potential and the opportunities in an urban stadium by the creation of multi-use complex with a stadium at its center, in the historical location of the destroyed "Maccabiah Stadium" in Tel-Aviv port. The Stadium is a unique public building that has great impact on its surrounding area. Stadiums can create sense of place, place identity, place attachment, community, and physical interaction between people. The area that surrounds the stadium will undergo intensive development with the building of residential, offices and commercial spaces, that can all be benefited by the public function of the stadium. I believe that an urban stadium, planned as an integral part of an existing urban fabric, can contribute a lot to its environment. The stadium can be a "Good Neighbor" and serve as a generator of place identity, place attachment and creating a community. The of the choice of its historical location, at the location of the "Maccabiah Stadium", which is associated with Zionism, sports and excellence will also benefit to create those feelings.
