The project P(ARt)K is based on the National Museum of Visual Arts (MNAV) in Montevideo, Uruguay. Despite being one of the most important museums of the country, the current building does not intend to encourage cultural participation and to create a space for access, interaction and identity. Through a critical statement, the museum’s building and its surrounding its reconsidered and redesigned in order to attribute a new and protagonist role to the institution as part of the city, and above all, as part of the society. The extension of the museum and the unification with the park in which it is located, creates a new concept that generates new ways to enjoy culture. In the new proposal, art is not just between the museum walls, and the park is not just the land that supports the building; the project is the linkage between the existing popular culture and the museum´s art.
