My project, Carpet Collection deals with Neighborhood B in the city of Beer Sheva and offers intervention in its urban space whilst taking inspiration from local events and the surrounding desert. In the existing neighborhood, I noticed the potential of open spaces, backyards and a network of pathways. The project also deals with the neighborhood's community – students and locals who live side by side as a result of a process called ‘Studentification’ deriving from Gentrification. My proposed plan speaks of the concept of a spatial carpet whilst addressing the climatic issue, light and shade, by interpreting the term of an inner courtyard typology and integration in the existing housing projects. The plan holds a new type of building that fits the space – it provides a programmatic and structural solution to existing events and creates mixed use, condensing and the connecting of university students to the local community.
