The Ottoman railway that ran between Tel Aviv's first two neighborhoods, Florentin and Neve Tzedek, left an urban scar. The railway corridor became a spatial boundary lacking identity, one that disrupts the urban continuity of the city. Despite its central location and varied uses-from a railway to a parking lot and now to the Railway Park (Park HaMesila) none of these transformations have succeeded in diminishing its sense of marginalization and foreignness. Adjacent to neighborhoods with constrained and historic building limitations, the corridor developed without a unique urban texture, remaining an abandoned zone. The project was conceived around this scar, seeking to utilize it as a space of opportunity. It does so by consciously avoiding its typical role as a mere passage area, which a boundary often dictates, and instead embracing its potential as a connecting factor. Through a public program and architecture that integrates with the surrounding urban landscape, the project opens up new and fluid circulation axes. In doing so, it connects not only the neighborhoods physically but also creates a social and physical bridge between the distinct communities of Neve Tzedek and Florentin, thereby granting the corridor the new identity it deserves.
