In a world where everything is changing at a rapid pace – technology, urban space and social life – the education system remains largely tied to structures and teaching concepts designed for previous decades. Schools often remain closed and disconnected from the community around them, disconnected from the needs, skills and lifestyles of 21st century students, empty most of the day and night. The project offers a new architectural solution for educational institutions, with the ambition to create a dynamic community educational institution that operates beyond school hours, open, accessible and inviting. The complex offers flexible spaces for personal exploration, leisure, culture and social encounters, with the aim of encouraging creativity, belonging and community. The design blurs the line between formal and informal learning, between the school and the community, and between the educational institution and the city as a whole, with the aim of creating an open, flexible and shared space, which simultaneously serves students, educators, the community and the general public.
