The MIND THE GAP project examines the Binyamina train station as a meeting point between the local and the universal, and as a test case for the duality between "intersection" and "place". The station, located between two parts of the settlement, serves as a central transportation hub but in practice creates a physical barrier that prevents continuous connection between east and west and undermines the urban life around it. Through theoretical analysis of local construction and a renewed perspective on boundaries as potential for "place", the work highlights the need to transform the station from a transit space into a vibrant urban center, with mixed-use programs, public spaces, and high pedestrian accessibility. In the project, I propose a vision in which Binyamina station becomes an "intermediate room" on a settlement scale – a connecting and inviting space that integrates movement, dwelling, and encounter. Through planning principles of connecting the roads from both sides of the railway, deconstructing the structure and adapting it to the urban grid, creating external plazas within the building, the station becomes a unifying element in the urban fabric, strengthens street life, and integrates local needs with railway requirements.
