Among the citrus orchards of Pardes Hanna, as the harvest season begins, the air fills with sweet fragrance and motion. The oranges are picked and sent to the packing houses, where they are sorted and prepared for markets across Israel and abroad. The scent of orange peels once marked the season, but as years passed, technology replaced manual labor, and the packing houses remained as empty shells — silent keepers of a vanished world. Out of a desire to preserve the agricultural heritage and revive the landscape, “The Orange Peels Trail” was born — a project that renews the packing houses and connects them through a network of paths along Nahal Mishmarot. Along the route unfolds a series of community, cultural, and educational spaces: a café nestled in nature, a local farmers’ market, yoga and rest areas among the orchards, an intimate winery, art galleries, a children’s agricultural farm, and an open-air amphitheater for performances. The project is more than a physical plan — it is a journey through time, bridging past and future. It breathes new life into the old packing houses, weaving memory into the present. The stream, the orchards, and the people reunite in a vibrant space where agricultural heritage merges with cultural, social, and educational activity.
