Boundaries in the city are an urban phenomenon that has influenced and continues to impact the formation of the urban fabric and life within it. This phenomenon leads to the development of disconnected and isolated urban enclaves and creates a fragmentation of the urban continuum in its various aspects – conceptual, programmatic, demographic, and pedestrian. In order to create a good and enabling urban environment, there is a need to transform those boundaries that serve as spatial barriers into inclusive and connecting spaces. To break down the urban boundaries and turn them into cohesive spaces. To examine this, I have chosen the 'Beit Hadar Parking Lot' area located at the intersection of Begin Road and Harakevet Street. This space is undergoing significant changes due to the development of the light rail transit that is planned to pass through the area and transform it into an intensive and dense urban fabric. The project examined the Beit Hadar complex and its potential to connect the three surrounding neighborhoods (Lev Tel Aviv, Neve Sha'anan, and Montefiore). Throughout the research and planning process, I considered unique urban fabrics and architectural typologies that characterize the urban identity of the area, and I analyzed the relationship between preserving the existing fabric and the required urban density. The project aims to transform the transportation barrier, which creates spatial, physical, and social disconnection, into a connecting element that allows integration between the different neighborhoods, programs, and populations. It seeks to deepen the relationships between the horizontal urban fabric and the vertical built environment, enabling connection, integration, and mutual enhancement, optimizing the intensive pedestrian movement that will take place in the space.
