היחס בין מסגרת לשוליים הוא קשר דינמי של מבנה והגדרה, כאשר כל אחד מהם מעצב את המשמעות של השני. המסגרת קובעת גבולות, מייצרת מבנה ומיקוד למה שהיא מכילה, היא כופה סדר ויוצרת מרכז תשומת לב. בעוד השוליים קיימים כמרחב ההיקפי המשלים את התוכן הממוסגר ומציעים פתיחות ופוטנציאל לפריצת הגבולות. השוליים מייצגים את המרחב הפריפריאלי הבלתי תפוס המאפשר לממוסגר להתרחב במשמעות ופועלים כמשתתפים שקטים אך משמעותיים בנרטיב של השלם.
אינטראקציה זו אינה עוסקת רק בהפרדה, אלא ביצירת דיאלוג משמעותי בין מה שמרכזי לפריפריאלי. המרחב ביניהם מתאפיין ביחסי גומלין של נוכחות והעדר המדגיש את המרכזי תוך הכרה בחשיבות הקצוות. הוא הופך לאתר של מתח, שבו מתנהלים משא ומתן על גבולות, והשוליים הופכים מריק לתחום בעל משמעות פוטנציאלית ועשויים להציע נרטיבים חלופיים, תהודה עדינה או קשרים בלתי נראים המאתגרים ומעשירים את סמכותה של המסגרת.
בפרויקט זה עסקתי ביצירת רשת מבני ציבור הפרוסה ברחבי העיר אשדוד. העיר אשדוד משמשת כמקרה בוחן בשל היותה מחולקת לרובעים המתפקדים כאוטונומיות עירוניות עצמאיות ולא מייצרים מערכת גומלין האחד עם השני. מטרת הפרויקט לייצר מבנים הממוקמים בשולי הרובעים על קו התפר לרובעים הסמוכים ובאמצעות פרוגרמות משולבות תומכות למשוך קהל רחב לשימושים שונים במבנה.
הפרויקט מציג פירוט של שני אתרים שונים מתוך הרשת האורבנית, כאשר האסטרטגיה התכנונית היא שילוב בין פרוגרמה מרכזית הפונה לאוכלוסיית היעד של קבוצות נוער בסיכון בשילוב פרוגרמה ציבורית שמטרתה למשוך אוכלוסיית יעד פריפראלית מרחבי העיר ובכך לשלב בין האוכלוסיות השונות.
The relationship between frame and margin is a dynamic relationship of structure and definition, with each shaping the meaning of the other. The frame sets boundaries, creates structure and focus for what it contains, it imposes order and creates a center of attention. While the margin exists as the peripheral space that complements the framed content and offers openness and potential for breaking boundaries. The margin represents the unoccupied peripheral space that allows the framed to expand in meaning and acts as silent but significant participants in the narrative of the whole.
This interaction is not just about separation, but about creating a meaningful dialogue between what is central and peripheral. The space between them is characterized by an interplay of presence and absence that emphasizes the central while recognizing the importance of the edges. It becomes a site of tension, where boundaries are negotiated, and the margins transform from emptiness into a potentially meaningful domain that may offer alternative narratives, subtle resonances, or invisible connections that challenge and enrich the authority of the framework.
In this project, I was involved in creating a network of public buildings spread throughout the city of Ashdod. The city of Ashdod serves as a case study due to its division into neighborhoods that function as independent urban autonomies and do not create a system of interaction with each other. The goal of the project is to create buildings located on the edges of the neighborhoods on the seam line to the neighboring neighborhoods and through integrated programs that support attracting a wide audience to different uses of the building.
The project presents details of two different sites within the urban network, with the planning strategy being a combination of a central program that addresses the target population of at-risk youth groups combined with a public program that aims to attract a peripheral target population from across the city and thus integrate the different populations.
